Looking for Lincoln Honors Mary Truitt
October 25, 2021
Long time Looking for Lincoln supporter and volunteer, Mary Truitt, passed away earlier this year. Looking for Lincoln has planted a tree on the lawn of the Vandalia State House State Historic Site to honor the years of service that Mary Truitt dedicated to Looking for Lincoln and the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area. We are planning a tree dedication ceremony on the lawn of the Vandalia State House on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 2 P.M. and all are invited.
Mary Truitt was actively engaged with Looking for Lincoln since its conception in the 1990s till she passed away earlier this year. She loved her community of Vandalia and was always seeking opportunities to increase visitation to the Vandalia State House State Historic Site and the National Road Interpretive Center.
To learn more about her involvement with Looking for Lincoln listen to Mary Truitt share about her experiences with the organization in an oral history interview.
